Hi guys,
Looking for a caravan park to stay at the end of July in
Broome. We will be leaving
Darwin beginning of July and will spend a couple of nights in
Broome as we make our way through WA.
Cable Beach is fully booked and is 1 weeks minimum.
Any suggestions?
Cheers
Clint

Palm Grove or Tarangau.
You not missing anything by missing out on
Cable Beach

We have stayed at
Roebuck Bay three times. Again, they won't take bookings, but we
camp on the outskirts of
Broome the night before and then park out the front and wait at the office from around 9.00am to get a site. We have always been successful, but if everything is full they have an overflow on the oval close by. We like Roebuck best as it is closer to the town, best viewing of the stairway to the moon if you are there on a full moon & if you fluke the markets also it is a great spot to be.
cheers, ian g

We made a bookiing (confirmed) at
Roebuck Bay in March for a four-night stay in June. Had to change the dates slightly as they were fully booked already for one of the days.

Pretty crowded in
Broome around that time - but they have "overflows" - PCYC, and a couple of others I believe - we stayed at the pistol club which was being used as an overflow at the time. Great little place we found.

Tarangau. Don't stay anywhere else that time of year. If you want to see "stairway to the moon" catch a bus to the Mangrove motel and enjoy yourself , food in the beer garden and it is a experience. If you and others stay at
Roebuck Bay and see the stairway to the moon you will be disappointed, there are hundreds of people on the point. It is chalk and cheese. We have done it twice and the Mangrove is so far ahead of the Town Beach it is not funny. Additional cost for the night $70 at a guess. (meal included)

Mark

Funny, I have been to
Broome and was able to get into
Cable Beach by calling the office as it opened as some people leave early/no shows etc.
First time for 3 days AFAIR, then we went to
Cape Leveque and they gave us priority when we rang from
Beagle Bay and we had 4 days.
Very nice helpful people but the long termers naturally take priority..

It took us 4 phone calls to get a booking at
Cable Beach Worst organised office I have ever seen No computers Bits of paper stuck in folders like clock on sites.
Lost ours as expected but found us a site.
Couldnt organise a py
toilet if you put the pennies in.
Also for what it was it was very expensive. $41 for a cramped site
Friends stayed at Tarangau and enjoyed it.

Hello, If you get a chance google: BARNHILL STATION. 120km south of
Broome and 9km off the highway. (An old tyre is the
sign)(gates to open too)
I'm not affiliated in anyway, stopped there in 2008 on a Sun evening slept in a swag 1x night.

Last year we stayed at the the
Broome Caravan Park. This park is some 5 km short of
Broome CBD and as such is not near
the beach or anything else popular with tourists so I guess that’s why it still had vacancies when we booked while all the other caravan parks were all booked out.
The park itself is quite reasonable with large enough shady sites, a great swimming
pool and reasonable amenities.

We have just left the Palm Grove park - our site was very shady, swimming
pool, it was nice for our two week stay.
See if you can book site 70 or 69 - great shady sites for pretty
well all day.
Also agree with another poster re Mangrove Hotel for stairway to the moon - or even better, take the sunset hovercraft ride - it's great and you'll definitely get front-row seats!
