Has anyone had any problem with the rear main on a 3lt diesel leaking, need to find out if there is a problem with them or if this is an isolated case, Vehicle in question has just clocked 30,000 klms in 18 months, found the leak when doing the 30,000 service. When talking to the local Holden service department about it I got the standard reply, "never heard of that before".

Thanks in Advance,
Ross.

We've got 4 in our fleet. My drive car has 70 000 and has no such issues, neither do the others.
Mine's done the most offroad stuff - it gets used offroad pretty much daily.

Couldn't imagine it being a common issue, have them fix it under warranty and give you some re-assurances going forward, very strange to see that happening on a vehicle after 30,000, I can imagine it being a worry as you don't expect that to happen.

G'day Ross,
Mine has done 103,000 not a oil leak anywhere ,looking on various other world wide forums it does not see to be a known problem with 4jj1 motor.

Hi Grant, May I ask where you are situated before I say how much faith I have in the dealership where I bought it.

I have a very '06 model Rodeo with the 3L turbo diesel, done 133,000 4x4ing and towing and general round town work and haven't had an oil leak, only problem I've ever had was the hand brake slipping.

Well the plot thickens, had it checked out by dealer today and got to talk to the tech that inspected it, and the answer was, yes seen a few like this, apparently there are 2 welsh plugs on oil galleries in the back of the block, doesn't know for sure until they get the tranny out, but most likley the culprit will be one of these, and then went on to say that he has also seen a couple of rear mains leak early in life, goes in to the workshop after easter and we will find out then what is to blame.
