Am planning a trip up that way with the Jayco outback Swan and wondered if anyone knows the condition and type of tracks on the Vic side of Tom Groggin and the crossing details there also. I cant tell from anything I've been able to find on the net and thought someone may have done a similar trip. We are planning on coming home from Canberra that way spending 3-4 days plodding thru the Vic High Country on the way home.

Thanx for your help.

That track might be a bit much for the Swan, very steep and narrow entry/exit on the river crossing at Tom Groggin and the climb up onto the plains by either route is pretty steep and narrow in sections, don't even think about towing anything if it is wet as it is mostly clay.

G'day Bonz.

I spoke with a ranger at Omeo last Friday - she tells me that most of the tracks between Omeo and Tom Groggin are open, however some of them are in poor condition. From memory she said that the tracks that may still be closed are around Mt Pinnibar.

The Davies Plain Tk is open, and Julie and I are heading up that way to the Kings Plain Tk on Thursday. We'll be heading over the ford at Tom Groggin toward Threadbo on the following Tuesday.

Member: Pradomad had a post about his recent trip through the High Country - about ten days ago, I think. He said that the ford across the Murray at Tom Groggin was quite shallow. I keep an eye on the NSW Water site - it is reporting the level at Biggara (a bit further down stream from Tom Groggin) at 0.68m. It has been slowly dropping over the past ten days.

I can't comment on how you would go with your CT. A hell of a lot of people tow CTs through this area. Member: Blaze could help, as I think he has a Jayco as well, and travels regularly in this area. I don't think anything on the Davies Plain Tk, or the ford at Tom Groggin should bother you. On the other hand if it starts raining that's a completely different proposition.

I'll get Muz up there one day....:-)

Have a safe one...
