I have been trying to get info about alarms and have found many that do "text" a message but is there any that actually ring a mobile number and send a message ...
I have found when travelling some text's can take up to 5 hours to be delivered, would not be much use after that time frame ....
I think it may have something to do with going from one transmitter to another and it has to "log" on or something ....
Cheers
Joe

We would like to know as

what i have found so far is they do the normal stuff like sound a siren but all i have looked at only text a message ......
It is for instance when we stay in a hotel and we are 6 floors up, if an attempt is made at breaking in the alarm will go off but in the city most will simply ignore it and turn a blind eye and the text will come through up to an hour later, far to late then, some will not stop at the alarm and will steal any contents and run, if a call is made then i have a bit of a chance at least .......

You are right about people turning a blind eye at alarms in the cities; i don’t have a solution for smash and grab, other than a Doberman with bad attitude!!! But that’s not possible.
As for your car stying where you park it, the solution is simple, it needs fuel to run, you have control and it is very effective and cheap...

Hi,
I had an alarm which i found on ebay that called my mobile. I has a speaker and microphone in the car and could talk to anyone who stole my car. It had a number of relays that i could activate from my phone so i could shut down the car or start the car or put windows down. I could ring the car to start it.
All it needed was a pre paid sim in it.
Regards
Shaun

Shaun, The mind boggles......... maybe activate a relay which causes a green-coloured gas to come out of the air vents? LOL

Shaun
That sounds like something worth investigating.
Can you give us more details please?

Joe,
Suggest you look into house alarms, some units work off low voltages via a transformer and also can dial out via a mobile connection.
There are also locator units available that can send you an alarm ie van door has been opened via a mobile call and you can watch your stolen van been driven down the road on the net, from memory these units cost around $700 to $900 plus installation, plus Telstra mobile phone connection cost at the 6 monthly rate.

These units also have contacts to switch on a device to allow green coloured gas to come out of the air vents.

Presumably to differentiate it from the purple dye used in stolen bank note bags Peter? Green and purple - a colour match made in ...... probably jail.

i have looked at them but would they handle rough roads, i dont think they would and last, there are many 12v units that allow tracking and for under $500 but again they only text ...
