There are a number of tours of the Qantas founders museum, my question is, is it possible to do all in one day?, at $275 per family is it good value or is there a tour that basically covers it all in one. Cheers Mick

Depends on what you actually want and how much reading you want to do , the basic entrance fee covers the museum and depending on how much you read can take from an hour or two to all day , tours are another thing alltogether , tour of the 747 , wingwalk is extra $$ and is age restricted , tour of 707 is extra again , the whole lot can be done and is done in one day but you will find that your price of $275 for a family is way short of the actual price.

Mick, we have always paid to do tours but refused to do the Qantas one at Longreach because when you really looked at what you got for your money it was just too dear.

I did the tour of the 707 with two kids a couple of years back. It was a good tour for myself who was listening. Kids lose interest quickly.
Even though I enjoyed it, I thought it was a little overpriced.

When you do have a good close look, it makes you wonder how they stay together.

Hi

my hubby & I did the whole she-bang last year - it was worth every penny! some components won't be much for the kids in saying that there is heaps that they will enjoy.

although it is on the expensive side - if you have the time and the cash I would say it is value for money.

Ps. If you get a chance the wing-walk is worth it!!

Thanks for all your replies, I guess in the end it is an individual choice, my eldest son has a huge interest in aviation so I guess he will get alot from it. I read in their promo the money they raise is going toward building a covered area for the planes. We will give it a go and let you all know how it went. Cheers Mick

We did a guided tour (747?) in 2009.
Because we did it in the afternoon we were given free admittance the next day as it is believed we didn't get enough time to look at the museum section. We returned the next day to continue our visit.

Similar thing happened at the Stockmans Hall of Fame. Enter after lunch and get free admittance for the next day.

My hubby is really into aviation and enjoyed it thoroughly - as Mrs S said if you go in the arvo you get a free pass back the next day.

We did he 747 tour, the secrets of the 707 tour and the museum. Our kids were 14M, 12F and 6F. All the kids loved it as there was something for everyone.

I couldn't justify the dollars for the wing walk tour and we were restricted by the age of the little one. No regrets.

It took us a whole day from open til almost close. The cafe has good food and reasonably priced. Make a day of it.! You'll love it.

If I had to cut back on anything, it would be the 707 secrets tour.

Fab.

We're another couple that did the whole lot prior to Christmas and loved it. We were lucky enough to be the only ones on the wing walk and the 707 Secrets Tour which made it just great.

Our attitude is that we may not get back there so do it all whilst we can.

Enjoy!
