Hi Folks,
Just wondering if anyone has towed a van (18 1/2') into the Carmilla Beach (Central Queensland)
camping area lately. We would love to go there but are unsure of the road/track conditions.
Cheers and "happy trails to you".

We were up there in June last year, and it depends on how many others are there. There is a few sandy areas which make it a little hard to get into, but so many spots to choose from. My best advise is to park up and go for a walk, and there is quite a walk to the south to
check for a good spot.

If you lowered your tyre pressures and kept your momentum over the softer spots i wouldn't expect a problem. I winched out a caravan last time I was there, but he would have got himself out eventually.
Give it a go.
Cheers,
Bill

We passed through there for a night before christmas some time, the track was fine back then. I'm guessing it would be even easier with the extra rain on the sand. Many sites to chose from, we ended up in one of the firsts sites as these were the emptiest. We noticed a LOT of sandflies back then, so make sure you take some repelent, but I guess we find thses buggers everywhere.
Cheers
Troy

Mapsey,
this may help as the rain just keeps coming, keep looking
here and see how much rain has fallen to keep the sand wet and hard.
Have a good one.

Thanks guys. I guess the safest thing to do is to walk in first and
check conditions and site availability.
Thanks again.
