Dear all,

We are travelling Australia in a 2003 Nissan Patrol 3.0L Diesel, and are coming up for a service.

Please could you let me know any reputable 4WD Mechanics in Adelaide who know their stuff, do a great job and don't overcharge / rip you off.

Thanks all, and I look forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards
Ligoland.

Agree with the above. I've had major work done there and very happy. One slight issue and fixed under warranty with no questions asked.

I use Nisscare at Royal Park (recommendation from this site years ago now). Definitely fit your criteria - worth a visit. Cheers

Hi Ligoland,

Not sure about mechanics in Adelaide, however, whomever you get to check out the Patrol, ensure they check the condition of your main Fan Blade as they are prone to cracking near the central outer ring between the fan blades themselves. This is caused by heat from the engine which tends to transfer through the fan clutch and eventually to the metal bolt on section of the fan. The metal heats up, and tends to cause the plastic/nylon covering it to shrink, thereby creating cracks and when you stop and the engine cools, the plastic/nylon fan tends to become brittle and when this reaches a certain point the fan can and sometimes does bleep ter. I know people that this has happened to, and they did not know what caused it. One hell of an expensive mess can be found under your bonnet in the middle of nowhere should this happen to you. Just be vigilant, and check for cracks at the end of a long days travel and you should be okay. I caught mine and replaced it in time, as I had heard about this. Cheers Cashman.

Not sure what happened above as the word " bleep TER" was bleeped out! So I will say it again in two parts as I would not be surprised if it gets bleeped again. (Sha-tter)

I have been taking my Patrol to Jarrett Nissan in Adelaide Hills at Bridgewater.

Very happy with them, and they are reasonable priced.

If you ring up a few days before and it is not a major service they will do it while you wait. Or you can take the bus to Hahndorf for a look around or have a coffee

I have used Rising Sun (Gepps Cross). He is good with gas and good prices(subaru expert too).

Colin Schubert (Modbury North) owns a fair few Patrols, don't have his number though. He is old fashioned and very knowledgable. A google search may come up with some answers.
