Adelaide to Wagga Wagga is about ten hours driving. Wagga to Sydney about four and half (Liverpool) Not sure about rest of the way. From Wagga it is pretty much dual carraigeway.

Morning Brenton

According to Google Maps :-

Via the Sturt and Hume is 1783 k's and time is 20 hours and 24 minutes - this road has tolls.

Via the Barrier is 1817 and time is 20 hours and 40 minutes.

I've driven from Tamworth to Adelaide a few times and always travel via Broken Hill - good road and no tolls. If you decide on the Barrier be aware that fuel at Wilcannia is expensive and the fuel stop between Wilcannia and Cobar was closed last time we drove through.

Safe travels

Cheers

Ditto. This way also keeps you out of Sydney and Newcastle.

I mucked that up. What I meant to say was the route through Broken Hill means you wont have to drive through Sydney and Newcastle.

Check it out on Google Maps.

Using Google Maps, only 20 minutes difference which would depend on all the variables of travelling such a long distance.
