Hi All
Require information on Electric Brakes for my Caravan, I have search past post ,Under Caravan Electric Brakes ,but I didn't get much information.
A friend suggested Hayes Lemmerz ( Energizer 111 )
Also an other Suggested Voyager with breakaway System .
Any information would be great in reference to other models.

Hi yu Col,
We have a "Tekonsha" electric brake system by Voyager and have had no trouble with it over a 8-9 year period.
All so have a breakaway system fitted and i think they are now compulsory.
Cheers
Baz

Buy a Prodigy P3 Newest and the best.
The Voyager is ok but nowhere as good a unit as the P3
What weight is your van as only vans of over 2001kgrequire breakaway brakes.
They are normally fitted at time of manufacture.
The braking method used by the Prodigy is superior to most other types and you will not be disappointed with one of them.

Hi CLC,
It is possible to convert to electric brakes. All parts are available and I did know the cost per wheel but have forgotten and prices would have moved on anyway.
The exercise is
well worth the doing. Electric brakes are much superior, IMHO, to override brakes.
The Tekonsha Progigy is the far superior controller and I have seen one on ebay recently for about $150 which is cheap as i paid nearly $300 for
mine about 4 years ago. They are the best.
The Hayes units, as far as I know, use old technology and are OK if you cannot afford better, but the Prodigy is the best.
You do not need to be an expert to fit any of this equipement you just need to be capable and have a good set of instructions.
As Grahame said you do not need a breakaway system if your unit is less than 2 tonne loaded. Mind you they are a good idea anyway if you want one.
Hope this helps, Bruce.
