GQ Power window woes

gday bully.
a quick fix would be to spray some crc down the window slides and all the moving parts to free it up and once its moving up and down clean the crc off and try some silicone lube sticks.for a little more permanent fix.
not to sure about gq power windows but i remember when my falcon one stopped working i pulled them apart and where the motor meets the wind up gear its made of some plastic thats designed to brake apart so if your kids get there arm stuck in it it breaks away and chews out so the motor works but the gear dosnt.

I am willing to bet money that it's your switches , They come apart easy , just clean the contacts and your will up and down again before you can say jack rabbit Venus Bay

my motor bleep itself on oen, and the switches on 2 others, all working again.

I replaced the motor on left rear, and pulled the trim apart, adn cleaned the switches.

also ripped the complete window winder system apart on drivers door, and replaced the sissor system on it, it was fubar... This fixed the drivers door, which I also replaced the runners front and rear on the drivers door.

Go with genuine, if it lasted ~12years last tiem, it will last ~12 years again.... Dont konw of any aftermarket ones.

I always liked manual windows for a good reason.
I would pay more NOT to have electric windows- especially in a 4WD - sorry this doesn't help you.
I fixed a mates- we pulled the whole door apart cleaned and lubed the lot, switches and all, now works fine but who knows for how much longer???

However you say the motor works and the windows don't move- sounds like electricity is not the problem- the mechanicals might be stuffed. Good luck!

Hi Bully mine did the same thing 1991 GQ, Nissan NZ wanted nearly $200 for the winder, so I'm cheap out to the nissan pulled the winder mechanize out the little wheel that the motor engages into had broken from the sharft so I ground the levers on the winder apart I think that there was 4 rivets that held it together.I drilled right through the cog and shaft put a piece of 4 inch nail in there and then welded the rivets back together, now the window goes up and down no problem I did that about a year ago still going well also had one of the other windows do the same so fix it the same way,by the way the winder mechanize is a manual winder with a motor fix to the outside.I think the MQ are the same winders as well hope this helps you,a bit hard to explian but if you pull yours off I think you will know what I mean.
