I travel Queanbeyan-Nowra every week. There is a section of about 45km of corrugated gravel from the Braidwood/
Nerriga turn-off and
Nerriga. I go via Tarago/Oallen Ford/Nerriga/Nowra and this road is all bitumen except for about 2.5km which will be bitumen in the not too distant future....I hope.
Check the Google Map.

Mum and Dad use that road every time they go to the
farm at Cowra from Sussex Inlet. He calls it the 92 Road.
Anyway he's driving it in a 17 yr old Camry and at 91 years of age he doesn't travel fast, so it's not a bad run.
I haven't driven it for about 3 years now, but that last time I didn't think it was all that bad.
Dad seems to think it's a good shortcut for him.
Cheers

I'm guessing that if he is heading to Cowra he would go via the route that I put up as if he went into
Braidwood he would be going a ways in the wrong direction. You're right the section from Nowra (ie near the Navy Air Station HMAS ALBATROSS) to
Nerriga is also referred to as Main Rd 92 - but it is signposted as
Braidwood Road at the Albatross Road turn-off.
