I have just stumbled across a thread from member Doug T (NT) titled "Sunday History Lesson", posted on 17/10/2010. It was about the sinking of HMAS Patricia Cam in WW2.
the link is

My father, Alfred Roy Tanner, was on this ship when it was bombed by the japanese. He was one of the survivors rescued from the island. Dad died 2 days ago, aged 89. I chanced upon the thread while researching/re-living his past.
He is the good looking bloke on the extreme bottom right of the photo of the survivors.
I am curious as to why you posted this story. I am wondering if Doug T has a personal connection with this event, and if so, I would be ever so grateful for a reply.
regards
Wayne T

No personal connection with the event apart that it is just another story I dug up from the achives and our Australian History,
Wayne , if you have any photo's your Dad took I would be very interested in seeing them,
Doug.

Doug, sorry no photos. Dont think many had the money to buy a camera back then, let alone take one to war.
Dad was 18 when he enlisted, and the ship was bombed 8 days after his 21st birthday. Totally different life from the modern era of 18 to 21 year olds!!!!
thanks for the reply

Hey Bonz,
The only thing that their names have in common is that they both start with a"T"
Maybe you have been looking at sheep too fondly over there in Kiwiland. LOL
Enjoy your holidays.
