Going to buy a new one in the next week or so.

I've got a 2008 auto diesel with 70 000 on it. So far it's been a very honest ute that's been worked hard but not abused. I've had nil issues with the engine and driveline. A couple of niggles - squeaky seat, horrible alignment ex dealer - all circumvented.
I'd have one again no worries.
If you're doing much towing I'd suggest the transmission cooler would be worthwhile. I don't have one and had the AT temp light come on once in the Simpson desert, and once towing in soft sand above the Leisha track at double island point. Nothing a couple of minutes idleing didn't fix but I imagine a tranny cooler would have helped. Go for low range early in the soft stuff and the box won't heat up.
They aren't as good on the fuel as the manuals. Expect around the ten per hundred highway, and thirteens around town.
The bullbar has scuffed the paint at the side of the guards a little from driving corruations.
I find it a much better proposition than my last hilux - the brakes actually work (ebd is simply amazing) the auto box doesn't hunt all day long, and the ride is comfortable.
Any other q's just fire them in.

Thanks for that gbc,
I did have an 09 manual petrol up untill this past Saturday, but it got a bit burn't, a lot actually, bit of dry grass caught up near exhaust/fuel tank and before I knew it she was gone........ got the kids out, no one hurt, thats the main thing.
Sort of forgot about dry grass and petrol engines, especially with catalytic converters, they get real hot.
So its a diesel for me now and want to go back to auto for running around town.

I like the auto too.

Just remember the diesel colorados run a cat converter rather than a diesel particulate filter so the exhaust will get hot in them too.
Good luck with it all.

Love my Automatic Turbo Diesel.

Have absolutely no issues with it whatsoever.
Plenty of grunt when towing and very economical too. I am getting around 8.5l/100km towing an offroad camper.

Croc, I agree with both previous replies. I am very happy with my 09 auto diesal colorado except the issue of transmission overheating when under pressure. Only happened a couple of times but was able to stop and let it cool down. Holden did not want to know about it and blamed after market accessories such as bullbar! Other than that, its excellant to drive and great value for money.
Cheers, Craig

Thanks Craig, had a dealer fitted bar on the last one and probably go the same again, that might take away that excuse...

Croc, the dealer fitted the bar before delivery although it was an ARB bar. Hopefully it wont be an issue for you. It's not a serious problem, just annoying that a brand new 4wd overheats under a workload that it should be able to handle.

I bought my manual one 7 months ago and love it. Just before I purchased it, I drove a work colleagues auto. Nice car, auto works well with the torque of the T/D. I just bought manual as I prefer them generally. He tows a van with his and has had no problems.
Be sure to take a Dmax brochure into the dealer with you as well, as I found out when getting mine that you can get some extra stuff thrown in if they think they could lose you to the competition.

Cheers Tanka.

Just by the way folks,

Contrary to some recent advice on this forum regarding the Colorado being manufactured by Isuzu, the following is a quote from the Director of Manufacturing at GM's Rayong Plant in Thailand.

“Both the domestic and export versions of the Chevrolet Colorado are manufactured in General Motors Thailand’s facility at Rayong, Thailand. Additionally, GM Thailand also has a manufacturing contract with Isuzu, under which GM manufactures Isuzu’s trucks for the export market.”
