just been speaking on the phone to inlaws in Gympie, seems the Bruce Hwy is closed at the moment as you come into town from the South near the Normanby Bridge / just where the concrete plant is.
apparently the Mary River is on the rise at the moment, and shop owners in Mary Street are starting to move goods to higher ground, as they are worried the creeks are about to back up to high, and the water will start coming out of the streets storm water drains and start flooding the shops.

was just told that apparently they are closing the Normanby Bridge in a few hours time aswell, so water must be getting pretty high there.

I worked for a while in Gympie, and loved it there. I was surprised it had not already flooded, as it seems to go under pretty quickly.
I hope they avoid the worst of it.
