I am looking at beefing up my
suspension and was wondering if anyone has used West Coast Suspensions in Bassendean
Perth WA who use Jenkins Springs.
If you have had their upgrade how was it - did you go offroad - do you carry heavy loads.
My camper is pretty much at the GMV when all the sundry items are added and without the airbags my rear hangs low. I don't like to carry the whole load just on airbags even though they do a good job but the chassis is just not designed to be supported at that point but rather where the rear leaf springs are situated.
Cheers

Hi
We might be in a similar situation. Have a look at my recent posts thread #'s 81681 & 81743.
I am still deciding what to do and who to use but am tending towards Lovells mainly because of the response I had when enquiring with them.....also I was not completely happy with some of the answers from a couple of other locals.
Will watch this thread with interest.......might pay us to touch base together with this one?
Cheers
Graeme

Hi Graeme
I do often read your posts as they are often very relevant to my situation. Recently it was you post on GMV loading that has me looking at
suspension upgrades.
I have found I am probably overloaded and at this stage too scared to go near a weigh bridge.
I am seriously looking at West Coast as in the past have heard good results.
They do offer a 3900kg certified GMV upgrade but I have been advised it would be very stiff when unloaded and is more suited to those who have a permanent heavy load like spray tanks or some machine unit bolted to the tray.
I am looking at the 9 and 2 rear spring kit with matching front coils and new shocks all round.
When I have the camper on I just get too much body roll unless air bags are pumped to 80psi.
Cheers
David

When I was enquiring a while back a number of sources said to go to Wilkinsons in Bayswater. They couldn't help me with my specific issue but others swear by them. From memory they specialise in Konnies

Hi Duncan
That is another business that has been recommended to me for suspensions. A good reputation.

I have used West Coast for many years on different vehicles.
I have never had a problem.
My 08 Patrol has a 2" kit and it has handled the Cape, Tanami, Gibb and many
Cape Leveque trips. We are usually towing a camper and full roof rack.
I have no problem recommending them. They used to supply their springs to alot of the Offroad Franchises under different lables.

David,
Give WA Suspensions in Osborne
Park a ring and see what they say, they use Koni shocks and Lovells springs which is not a bad combo.
Give Ultimate suspensions a ring also, not sure if they are in WA but they will customise
suspension for different vehicles, they actually do tough
suspension for armoured vehicles.
Cheers

Hi Stewart
Gave them a ring - sounds like a good product but $1000 more expensive.

I haven't used Autoride but browsing round the net I've found a number of recommendations for them.
A number commented on how clean and particular the workshop is, and that he treats your vehicle like it was his own.
Am thinking of a
suspension upgrade myself so may give him a try.

I have had good results from West coast and a Auto ride wave been recomended to me by a mate. If you send the vehicle in for
suspension, make sure it is loaded to your travel specs and tell them how you want the vehicle to sit so when
the springs are fitted, both your self and the installer can see how it sits. There is nothing worse then getting home, loading the car and it drops on its a$$ and then taking it back and trying to replace for heavier springs without being charged the earth. This way if the spring THEY recomend is not strong enough, it can be changed out and or corrected on
the spot at the supplier. I have had excellent results from West coast, the pricing is very good, and the spring quality is up to scratch.

Well after lots of research and plenty of great feedback from this
forum I will go with the West Coast
Suspension.
I have found that adding one extra leaf equals about 20% upgrade in support.
I will change from the toyota 6 leafs + 2 heavy supporters and upgrade to 8 leafs + 2 larger supporters.
Also will change front coils to match rear as I don't want the car to sit like a wedge.
Will also change all shockies, rubbers, u bolts, shackles etc.
I will give some feedback here when it is done.
Cheers
David
