When I go up to Mt Coree (a Mazda 626 station wagon was parked 50m from the top last time I went there) I normally go up Curries Road in my Freelander with BFG ATs without too many problems. Used to be interesting in the previous HTs that I had and the traction control worked hard as did ABS, but changing over to ATs with low pressures improved things.
Did you go over to MacIntyres Hut - it can be interesting when wet.
I did get bogged in a big bog hole under the powelines in my Landrover 101FC a couple of weeks back and had to winch myself out but that was off a main
trails and it had been cut up the week before after a visit by a
well know 4wd magazine. This was definitely not a softroader area. (really not for any 4wd)
The rangers have really cleaned
Flea Creek up and now has separate day visit and camping areas. However it is easy to get too (and out of) and in summer too many yobbos get in there causing trouble and making it uncomfortable for other visitors - my choice would be MacInTyres Hut.
