We are departing for our Cape trip next week and have found it difficult to get camping accommodation in
Cairns for Friday night (they all want minimum 2 nights stay).
Anyone have a recommendation regarding a camping spot north of
cairns.... the following night will be at the Lions Den so we don't need to get too far past
Cairns.
thanks

closer to ferry than
Cairns but a lovely spot .

Wonderful Wonga ! The unpowered area at
Wonga Beach CP is great - acres of grass tp park on, shaded by palms and spreading trees. Coconuts on
the beach - exotic birds (feathered ones) - can't wait to get back there.

Can highly recommend Fishery Falls C.park some 30 kms south of
Cairns .I have not found a better or more friendly spot, tariff very moderate around $20-$25.You can easily get to the Lions Den from there.Either by Bloomfield or via the super highway thru
Mareeba..Muz

Hi Glenn
Have you tried Lake Placid (north side of
Cairns)?
Lake Placid Tourist Park
A lovely spot, and you can
check vacancies and book on line - there seems to be no two night restrictions.

Thanks all for the ideas, I have now rung a few of these as
well as
palm Cove and ellis beach and it seems that we should have no problem grabbing a spot somewhere north of
Cairns.
Thanks
Glenn
