Hi all.
This is Alan coming from the heart of the Gibson via Bgan Internet Satellite System.
I am with Mick O, Outback Al, Fourplayfull, Micheal J and Canadians Scott and Gaby and dear old Dad.
We have slogging it through some hard country the last week or so. Seen quite a few amazing sights and made some good discoveries.
We are currently stopped at a
camp we have nicknamed the "Radiator Range" as I have driven a rather large mulga stake through the radiator. It has been repair and will be reinstalled tomorrow.
The total
puncture count is about 60 mainly on the quad cycles, though I am in double figures on the ute.
All vehicles going
well, and Mick O is very "bloody happy" with the way the new truck is going.
We are currently at location 24 02 12S, 126 31 55.9E and we will be hopefully at
Nipper Pinnacle tomorrow night.
Having a great time and will undoubtably have further good times in the weeks to follow.
Will post further updates as circumstances allow.
Sorry we can't post photos, please don't post any photos in reply to this thread as it is very expensive.
Safe travels all,
The GDEC team.

So now we have reached
Nipper Pinnacle - 4 kilometers from here the front coil spring broke and I had to limp into
camp. 90 kilometres from the nearest track!!!! Lucky I am only 1 year into a 3 year warranty so I am sure my supplier will air-freight a new one into
Port Hedland for me. (Will ring on satphone tomorrow)
We have ripped it out and welded it back together - now the right side front is 2.5 cms lower than the left.
The repaired hole in the radiator held up
well though I have not put the cap on tight so not running on normal pressure.
It looks like no-one has visited this place since my last visit in 2007.
A nice 4 cm slash in one tyre this morning however no punctures.....
Everyone says hi.
Cheers
Alan
Ps - using Mick O's
battery power for the laptop as he has plenty...
also - Al K has completed what is probably the first east west crossing of the Gibson on a quad bike.

Hi
John,
I left Mick and the others on the Gary Highway two days ago. They'll be resting at Desert Queens Baths right about now.
Mick had only had two punctures when I left him - I being the lead vehicle had 23 punctures and two slashings.
I'm at the
Visitor Centre at Port Headland now, will leave here on Wednesday after repairs to the vehicle.
I'll try to get an update on here tonight if I can.
Cheers
A very weary and sore (and broke lol) Alan

Alan
Mick just rang me from near Telfer, all going ok, had approx 70 punctures between them all, Mick had two.
They were heading out to
Rudall river /DQ baths as we spoke.

Hi alan,
Yes we all know where you are, we've been watching your progress on EOTrackMe, which links through to your profile - and I've been watching your profile page for blog updates. Each position update is now in the
Forum Index page header and on the
Home page - so its very obvious! Unfortuantely, there is no link between your
forum posts to your profile so maybe next time add a blog update because anyone viewing your EOTrackMe progress will see your
blogs ont eh same page. We also have a new feature since you've been out and about - whereby you can send emails directly from your mobile phone to
places(at)exploroz(dot)com per
point of interest - the
Places system automatically extracts the subject line of your email as the title of the place and extracts the body copy of your email and publishes this as a Place description and pulls out any attachments and adds these to the photo section in the place record. For Members - this is about to also be extended to become a new section in your profile called MyPlaces - so at a glance anyone can see pics of where you've been and automatically it creates a trip log for your reference in your profile to keep.
any
feedback on these things appreciated. We are about to head out on a trip and will be testing all these features too - as we are just trying to work more on making updates from the field easier and without the need to log into the site via a browser (hence the phone/email service).
Take care, say hi to everyone else from us,
