Mulga park To Curtin Springs

This trek note (linked in the box above) includes that section. It is a well used bit of road and in dry conditions capable of taking vans etc.

We have driven Mulga Park to Curtin Springs many times. It is just another graded road when dry. East to the highway from Mulga Park can have sandy spots, but no drama.
West of Mulga Park requires permits (hard to get???) north and east does not.

This is north of Mulga Park in 1974. It was a bit wet that year....

Unlike Peter's unusual experience, we went a little way south on it in 2008 to get a better look at Mt Conner, and it was fairly corrugated. Like any inland road, it would be the luck of the draw as to the condition and most are corrugated and get back the same way very quickly after being graded. No permit required.

As Peter says, a permit is required for the Giles - Mulga Park Road which is Restricted Access (no doubt need a special reason to get a permit to travel on it).

Like Peter has said above, when dry is a very easy and great drive. It is only 234 kilometres of dirt with great and varying scenery. One time that we did it, we took our time, taking in many features of the area and it took us 1 and a half days to do it, with perfectly good road. Below is a section of road condition that you will encounter and I can personally recommend it. This is non Aboriginal land and no permits are required.

I came out of the APY lands last year from Umuwa through Eagle Bore onto Mulga Park Road and headed to Yallara. The section we did was in pretty good nick. I was towing an off road camper trailer. Don't think you need a permit for the Mulga Park Road although had one for the APY lands.
