Hi All
I am looking at getting a fridge (not sure which sort yet) possibly engel 40ltr ,a uhf radio and maybe some new recovery gear. Am i likely to get some good prices at the show or doesn`t it make any difference, like the boat show, marked up and then down.

Deja vu...

dont plan on bargains there anymore... They have realised that they can make a fortune from it, so they do. Mate was quoted more than normal at the show for a long range tank.

Get prices everywhere today or before you go then take them to the show and laugh....

The show is good for displays, and lookin at shiat, and comp trucks, but bargains... Like the Sydney Easter Show, show bags used to be free, they are now $15+ea

David,
Where were you in April?? I purchased my 40 litre engel and transit cover thrown in for $1100. Still not a bad deal but $998 delivered would have been better.

Rays outdoors have the Waeco CF-50 which is actually a 52lt fridge for $799 at the moment in Adelaide...which is $300 below retail. I have had mine for 2 years and am absolutly rapped with it.

NB: It is almost half the weight of the 40lt Engal

Reason we went with Engel 40ltr was the Waeco 50ltr we looked at at Rays, the lid BROKE when wife opened it.. YEs I know they come off, but this one broke. The sales child (he was only 18-20) rushed it out the back at the instruction of the team leader..

Not all are like that, but thats enough to put me off it.

On our recent gibb trip mate brought one of those Waeco's with half fridge, half freezer, don't know model number, and at the end of the trip the lid was buckled/warped which in turn left the courtesy light on causing the efficiency to be shocking. Also they have smaller inlet/outlet fan housings which means if they're leaning up against something they work like sh*t. At least the engel compressor & working bits are in a fully ventilated housing area at the control panel end of the fridge.

Go for the engelNice southerly coastal fishing trip someday.
