Hi All,

We have recently moved to Adelaide from Melbourne and are trying to find some dog friendly camp sites within 2 or so hours from Adelaide. We are used to heading away out bush for weekends with the camper and dog by a river. We are having difficulty in finding anything close to Adelaide. Any advice from some SA people would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

We used to take our dogs to some nice spots along the river towards Renmark. Have since moved back to Perth and forgotten the places...

Camps 5 is the book to read, it has lots of details of many cheap/free places to go including if they are dog friendly.

Waraultee Beach on the Yorke Peninsula was a favourite of ours.

This was about 12km west of Renmark. There were lots of campsites around it that were similar.

Here is another one north of Morgan, John Christian campsite(I think). Not quite on the river but it was by a dry creek bed...

Mt Remarkable caravan park is dog friendly if that suits you but it is not next to a river.

Hope that helps!

Hi nickb,

Thanks for the info. Those spots in the piccies look like just what we are after. I have all the Boiling Billy camping guides but will get a copy of Camps 5. I see your pup travelled in comfort with his sling bed. We also take our dog's sling bed along, his crate, bag of toys etc. He has a bag bigger than the kids lol!

Hey Moggs apparently Burra Creek Gorge and Worlds End are two good ones, haven't tried either personally but will be heading out there as soon as fire danger season ends to share a lamb roast with th e Missus and the Schnauzer.

Love the Schnauzer, ours is a miniature and looks odd playing with our Rotty!
