Hi,

I have an rv5 and absolutely love it! I'm thinking about getting the fly for it but just wondering what other people's experiences of them are.

Apart from keeping the bat/bird poo off the tent, do they keep it cooler in summer? Warmer in winter? Do they reduce condensation?

Love to hear from those who have one.

Tarp over the top of the tent with at least 20cm clearance.

Cheers

I usually have 4 people in the rv4 so condensation in the cold is a problem without the fly . The fly just zips on at the top of the tent and you use 2 poles at the back and some ropes and pegs . Another great feature is when its hot it does reduce the temps and in the rain you can have all the windows rolled up . I always take it but dont always use it .

I also have a RV5, although our camping is done in Europe so I cant realy say if keeps it cooler, but it does stop condensation during the night.

As it is so thin I leave it attached to the tent when I pack it away, it then only needs four extra pegs for the side 'wings', for the back I use the same pegs as the tent rear window. It's poles then go into the main tent bag.

Regards,

Kelvin

Yep, you wont regret it. Saves stuff'n round with a tarp. Keeps the dew of the tent body and means you can pack tent up early if needs be without waiting for the sun to dry it out. Just make sure it can't trap a swimming pool of water on the roof if it rains . . . . it's a lovely sound when the rains landing on the fly and not the tent, the missus usually cuddles up then. . . also gives some extra out of the rain storage under the wing bits.
I sometimes question my sanity . . . . and then it answers back.
