G'day guys,

We're off to Mayford for Easter, and have a query from one of our team whether a camper trailer will get down into Mayford. My memory of King Spur from 8 years ago was that it wasn't that bad, but some of the posts around the place seem to indicate otherwise.

Anyone with recent experience/knowledge? Vehicle and trailer are both high clearance, capable units.
Cheers,

Ivan

I'd only take a dedicated offroad camper (Tvan, Ultimate, etc) in with a suitable tow vehicle (Patrol, Landcruiser, etc). There were some sizeable erosion channels and humps along the way, along with some steep rutted sections (18 months ago).

Gaday Ivan. There used to be a sign at the top of King Spur that read : "The return trip from Mayfords maybe impossible after rain" :-)
On one trip we had 5 cars fitted with winches /snow chains and 3 with lockers. It took us 7 hours to get up the 7 KM's in heavy rain. Now the track has been realigned in a couple of spots since but the hill still gets very slippery.
Forecast for Easter is dry so if your mate is experienced, has a decent car & a proper high clearance trailer I'd give it a go. No doubt has a couple of mates to tow him up anyway.
Have fun ;-)
Cheers Craig....................
