Hello All,
Long time reader of exploreoz.com, first time
forum poster.
Usually I find all the info I need by searchin through the
forum pages, and having a good read at same time. Great info and stories !!! Thanks!
I have a direct question....
So, sometime ago when we began looking at a Camoer trailer or ute mounted camper cabin we came across a ute mounted camper trailer. Dismissing it off at the time, now after looking at lots of camper trailers, we find we dismissed this particular one for all the wrong reasons.
After much consideration and debate we now find this one we saw could actually be the best for us, except now I cant find it.
I have done numerous google searches for images and web links, using many different inputs, but still cant find it.
Basically, the 'box' on teh back of the ute has a folding lid that extends out and then becomes the 'floor' with a canvas tent that self errects.
The kitchen area can slide outwards to be used outisde, ore made inside to use inside the 'tent'.
I think they are made in WA, but not sure.
Firstly, does anyone know the name of these, or a web address?
Has anyone got one that they use, any personal comments?
Thanks in advance!
Regards

The two I know of are both made in South Australia.
Adventure TraytopHeaslip Traytop
The advantage of these traytops are that you can jack them up and drive the vehicle from underneath them.
Very important for longish stays. You don't want to pack up just to go for a drive.

Have a look at Utility Campers - made in
Bacchus Marsh in Victoria. Seems to suit your description:

Thanks Mark,
Yes, They are the ones I had seen and dismissed early on. For some reason all my google searches they never turned up.
Now reverting back to that and having another good look.
Thanks also to you Bill, opened up a couple more leads. Will look further at all.
Appreciate the fast responses.
Anybody used the tray top camper...??? Opinions...???
Thanks in Advance.

CruisinDub - Just a point to consider - If you can find one of these with a hard top in the long run I think it would be much better
I made our slide off camper and put a roof top tent on it. Its a great unit but I will make another one soon and put a hard pop top of swing up top on it.
Main reason is that when it rains and on heavy dew mornings you tend to pack the canvas away wet - over a period of a few days the damp finally gets into the bedding. We had 2 weeks of rain every night last time we camped and though not wet inside it was getting damp.
The other bonus with a hard top is that you could load it up with solar panels.
Best of luck & Cheers Tony
