Hi all.

Does anyone know of a road distance calculator for W.A., either on this forum or some place else.

I need the use of one to calculate the estimated fuel expense for my next trip.

Regards

Gday Bucky,
Yeah, I tried a few other searches and they seem to miss all the major 4wd tracks - so Canning, Anne Beadell Hwy etc are all bypassed. They know where Kintore is, but have no mileages. I guess thats when you pull out the Hema maps and the calculator!

For the last couple of years Ive used Google Maps. You can add destinations, drag to other roads. Zoom in on tracks. Works for me.

A lot can depend on which way the wind is blowing.

One day we got 3.5kpl in a head wind.

Next day wind going other way and we got 7kpl

AV over 44,000k is 5.7kpl

I use a Dept. of Main Roads WA Distance book, you can down load it from their website: > www.mainroads.wa.gov.au <. I've found it helpful in trip planning.

Quality Publishing Australia print a map of WA which has a wealth of info on the margins including distance graph and is available from Tourist Information Centres for about $8.00. Happy Days. Pauper

Hi janset,

There were some links off this thread, 50105 where Hairy asked a similar question, that you may find useful.

Also, as mentioned in earlier replies, Sally uses Google Earth and it results in a relatively accurate distances ................. also as mentioned earlier ............ it does not take head winds into account!!

Cheers,
Wayne & Sally.

PS ....... all the best in 2010 to David & Michelle, forum moderators, members and visitors.

I use the one on Goseeaustralia.com.au. You have choices for quickest - mainly bitumen road, or shortest - any road. Also you can put an intermediate place in.

I think these were the ones I used. I had to chase them up again.
