Hi all
Well with over 20 years of faithful service our old 60 series has been retired to my son (p plater) and we have bought a 78 series 2001 Troopy. Now we are stripping out HF & UHF radios, Rear Draws and all the other little mods over 20years of service and fitting out the Troopy. It has the 16" Sunrasia rims fitted and 1 spare but because these are now 5 stud pattern not 6 stud I now have a nice collection of 6 stud rims and tyre that are no good to me. We have an off road camper with spare and I like to carry 2 spares for the car all the same so it is easy to swap around if need be. My question is will 100 series rims fit on the troopy as I have been told some of the 100 series have an offset in the rims?? if so which ones. Any help appreciated
Greg

The rims that you need are off the rigid front end, or beam axles. These have a zero offset.
The split rims off the HZJ105 will also fit.
Anything from HZJ78, 79, 105 or HDJ79 should fit no worries.
The HDJ100 wheels may fit, but with the wrong offset.

Gday Stu,
Because of the extra 60mm offset, the HDJ100 (IFS) rims definitely won't fit the 78/79series. At the front, the tyre will rub the tie rod and destroy the rubber. At the rear the tyre will rub against the leaf springs. I learnt this the hard way when I has some tyres slashed by some low life, and tried to use a friend's spare tyres!
Cheers
Phil

the splitties from a 105 will fit but they are a bit wider and i think a bit more offset. they look kinda tough sticking out further than a normal splittie but annecdotaly ive heard it allows more mud into the rear brakes allowing them to chew out

G'day Phil,
That's more or less what I was getting at, theoretically the stud pattern is the same, but the offset on the IFS wheel throws that all out the window.
The 16x8 is wider than the splitties, not the other way.

Gday Stu,
I replaced your "may fit" with "definitely won't fit". I didn't want Greg to think a cheap IFS rim might be OK as an emergency spare.
The tyre on an IFS rim hits those bits so hard the wheel locks and won't turn!

Hi Greg,
I have a 2006 model Troopy, same running gear as yours.
I have a couple of sets of rims in 16x8 off 105 Series wagons. One set each in alloy and steel.
These are the rigid front axle rims you require:
But not these IFS rims:
As stated above the IFS rims have an offset whereas the rigid front end rims have the bolt face in the centre of the rim.
