Big Yango a great weekend escape that is still a secret, not many people know about it. The
homestead is a great place to visit with little kids, you can sit on the verandah & watch the kids run about on the slashed paddocks below. Big Yango is accessible by conventional vehicles to the
homestead that you can hire, 4WD required to get to the 2
camp grounds " Blue Gums" & "Mountain Arm". You can get off-road caravans into both & also a conventional vehicle to Mountain Arm if the creek is low (
check with
Ranger).
Toilets are GREAT non smelly composting loos that the girls will love. Wombats & wallabies will be seen & perhaps if you are lucky a rare Brush-tailed
Rock Wallaby. A must do is the Big Yango Loop Track which is approx 22Km long & traverses behind Mt Yengo on the edge of the newly declared Yengo Wilderness Area, great
views & you will use low range to tackle some tight switchbacks & good ground clearance is beneficial for some steep roll-over drains.
