Sam you have just pointed out something that people have to realise, the manufactures of vehicals design cars. I will say at this point in recent years Toyota has lifted it's game with it's 4WD's and introduced the same standard's for occupant crash protection as normal cars.
This said they don't fit a bull bar from the factory, they don't do anything to increase occupant protection in a serious crash! if they did they would simply make the front of the vehical with it intergrated from the factorty. In fact the Genuine bars for toyota & nissan you will find are built here in Australia to thier specification's (cost & appearance) they even export them oversea's.
Ford has a factory intergrated roo bar for the falcons, first car maker in the world to do it! spent millions on re-search and the data was used to increase the frontal protection in minor accidents eg animal strike without getting increased pedastrian injury. Ford is still one of the leading World car makers and the design teams work is used all over the world. Most people don't buy new cars they buy someones or some companys used car. so miss out on this type of intergrated product.
For all the stories you might have heard about after market products it they where that bad they would go broke!
