Yeah have to agree with Haza, every year the roads are different because of many things. Personally i wouldnt take a Falcon on any of the dirt roads up here, never mind towing a van. But in saying that, it all depends on what the road is like at that time, how your vehicle is set up and how
well prepared you are. Last year in August i followed a brand new holden ute, stock standard only done 10,000kms from
Derby to
Wyndham along the Gibb road. Didnt miss a beat and the ride was beautiful they say. I seen it go into some awkward
places and at the end of the trip it still looked brand new. Funniest thing was, seeing about 7 people standing on the opposite side of the Pentecost, from 3 seperate cars, witing for someone else to cross it. I told this fella go for it, never a problem this crossing. Should of seen the peoples faces, barely 30cm deep and they were probably waiting hours to cross.
Back to your question though, take it easy, and prepare yourself appropriately and i think you should be right. Although it is definitely not the preferred way, it is not impossible at all.
