Just returned home from the gibb.Had no trouble getting two nights from 2 1oo amp hour full river batteries. One in the camper and the other the auxillary in the hilux. Were running 2 fridges one 80 litre waeco on fridge and the 60 litre trailblazer on freeze. Were adding beer and wine to the freezer each night as
well and probably could have got a third night if we were careful.Seems that a couple of hours driving is enough to bring back full charge as this was what we did to get the next 2 nights etc.Did stop at some powered sites and used the zantrax 20 amp smart charger as
well when we did. What size generator would i need to run the smart charger.?
Stopped at a wonderfull place on the way home sort of.Back up the road towards
cape leveque. Its 30 klms south of there called Djoodoon or bullys
camp.Has showers and good
camp sites with the best
views and good fishing. Its not the ritz and you need to take everything exept
water. The guy that runs the place is called Jeff and a nice guy as
well who will take you mud crabbing if keen. Its quite and he only allows a max of 30 people at one time.
For anyone that is serious to go there give me an email for the phone number.A phone box in the middle of no where That Jeff answers when someone calls.
Cheers Graeme

looks like it worked.Jeff has to walk about 100 metres to answer the phone so dont give up just ring again. The ablutions are shared and all add a bit of wood to keep hot after Jeff lights the fire.Like i said its not the ritz but we had a look at
cape leveque crowded and all that comes with that.Be other spots as
well on the peninsular but we liked this place.
cheers Graeme.

That's quite "civilised" Graeme. Thought it may have been more like this:

Re generator size 1000Watt should be plenty big enough sugest using a digital sine wave generator eg Honda/Yamaha/Kipor. All fairly quiet. 20 Amp Charger should only be about 300 Watt.

I also have a Zantrax 20 amp smart charger - they have a 400watt primary load.
So a generator over about 500 watt should do.
My manuals quote that you should use a pure sine wave generator and a surge divertor. That being said, as an experiment I connected
mine to the output of a modified sine wave invertor and it functioned ok.

I run a Honda E10 to run 2 fridges (60F/F and a 42 f) both engle and a 3 stage charger for about 4 - 5 hrs at night. Does the trick on eco no problems.
