Hi,
Currently running dueler h/t d698 I think as standard (265/70/r16) and have done 56000 on them are am considering replacing with the dueler a/t d693. Mostly tar driving with the odd snow trip. Are these a good choice as my husband has a bad back and I dont want to get anything to hard. I was reading some suggest fitting 265/75/16 instead, is that abetter option and what affect on speedo and ride will it have?
Thanks

Jo,
I recently bought a GU and upgraded from the standard 265/70/16's. I went up to the 285/75/16's and I also wondered if it would've been a better decision to go for the 265/75/16's. The Dueler AT 693's are a great tyre and I can highly recommend them. The 265's are made here in Oz and have a different, longer lasting, compound to the Japanese made 285's or so I'm told. The 285's put an extra 30 or so mm under the diffs and make make a significant change to your gearing. I have the 4.2 turbo diesel and it is great having the extra rolling diameter increase for cruising but the size isn't that common in the bush come replacement time if it's needed in a hurry. There's about an 8.5% difference in your speedo and the revs at 110kmhr drop from 2800 to 2350. It's not an easy choice but either way the 693's are a good tyre.
