Hi Andrew,
I'm at King Ash Bay at the moment. As Daryl said, more people here than the other
places, but also a lot more facilities. Power (if you want it), fuel, water, small
shop, a bar and bistro.
We
camp in the non powered area on the banks of the
Macarthur River and enjoy it. The river system is so large here, that even if there are 30 or 40 trailers at the
boat ramp, we often don't see another boat on the water once we are a couple of KM from the ramp.
By October there will be a lot less people here, and at the other popular spots. Many head back south in August as the temp up here starts to rise. But, it is Sept and Oct when the fishing (barra) improves as the water warms.
I have not been to Rosie Creek, but I'm told the road is very rough and they charge something like $30 per day to
camp there with no facilities. Perhaps Daryl can confirm this.
We will be at KAB till early Oct, when we have to head to
Gold Coast for our daughter's wedding.
This is a link to a
Fishing Report I posted recently.
