Hi all,
im going camping to Yadboro Flats, south coast (in Yadboro State forest) this weekend. taking the bride and the hounds

Never been there before, has anyone been there lately?

iv checked on the places / treks section and not much about it. so i will take some pics, waypoints and route for the site.

what other info should i look for when doing this? might as well make the trip and record it.

Hi
I 've never been there ,but it is on my to go list,
There is a song by Colin Buchanan "The Bishop from Burill" where he sings about the Yadboro area "LAND OF THE GETAWAY ALBUM' if country music is your preferrence,
Does not answer your question but when i hear the song or any of his other music ,it makes you want to get in the car and go there.

Colin,

Not far away is "The Castle", a magnificent looking plateau and there's a hiking track to its top.

My 9 year old daughter and I hiked up there (25 years ago) and about 5 years ago four of us, including an amazing lady our age with a prosthetic leg, also climbed almost to the top (we ran out of daylight).

Seeing that it's winter you might be interested in walking the track to the base of the escarpment, it's still a great view from there. I'm presuming that the "fire trail" is not overgrown and, no, that fire trail up the hill from the creek was not accessible by 4wd, strictly walking.

Enjoy,

Dick

Also nearby is the PigeonHouse Mountain which you can hike to the top of. From the top, there are great views over the Yadboro valley and out to The Castle, and views to the sea on the other side.
