G'day Mainey,
Not wanting to take a negative approach to your statistics and would love to catch up and talk about Solar one day. I have a newly purchased panel sitting in my lounge just itching to be fitted to my next unpurchased cruiser ute.
The way I see it is this
forum survey could not have come at a worse time. All the die hard explorer fans are non internet accsesable ie. many a wave length away from the internet bandwidth. And also straight after a 42% discount of
membership. So do the Stats......... all the keen new members whom have only known the site to be what it is at the moment are voting as what the site is today.
Out of the 2000 odd "Voters", there are on this site, how many are new members who do not know what the sites past is?
How many of the voters emails went to spam and did not even get the message?
How many old members are out in the middle of nowhere and not even get a chance to vote?
How many members who have had enough of this site and have left for various reasons in the past that could not vote?
This site is a wealth of information for which I am so honoured to have crossed paths with in the past few years and I am sure there are many more to meet to.
There used to be a few living legends on this site for which "EXPLOROZ" should be proud of and have just pushed away for reasons that baffles the mind.
The knowledge that extends beyond just written word is priceless. These legends are what any great site needs to make it great. Friendship is forever, people on websites come and go......... and get bored very easily.
To be honest a website that boasts so many hits a day and has so very few members in a country as large as ours, with so many opportunities that is losing respect from the most knowledgeable quiet achievers in our community. I would have thought that we would need to accommodate the "OLD TIMERS" in some way to make the site unique. Some of these Old timers may one day in the future become known as the great modern day explorers being the last to travel in these less explored parts of
Australia that may very soon be totally closed to the public. We can learn from there mistakes and hope not to make the same mistake. Some are as eccentric as they come, come back tirelessly and that is what makes them unique. But still they come back to give knowledge to our children to make there travel experiences a safe one
Everyone is entitled to an opinion and that opinion is entitled to be heard. If that opinion is not appropriate for the sake of the general public then we as a minority pay our fees to hear the opinion of another. I feel it should be moved to a member only section so as the 2000 odd can make up there own minds as to whether or not to read it.
sorry for the long one and hope it does not go into the big long drop.
Peter
