Hi fellows,
I am currently selling my Diesel GQ in order to get a GU for it's strength and torque.
My current GQ is as follow:
1993 GQ II
non-turbo TD42
Snorkel
380,000 km
Dx model with vinyl throughout
Cargo barrier
Warn Winch 10000 lbs
4"
suspension lift
1" spacer
Adj F & R panhard
H.duty lower control arms
35" Claws x 5
Pic can be seen here
It's very capable of offroading but I need more power/torque! I don't plan to go comp but just use it for weekend fun.
What would be the cost to turbo it with intercooler and upgrade the exhaust?
I am also looking at getting this
2004 GU III but I am not sure if this late model GUIII still have the
well known engine problem.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Mate
I would keep the GQ as I have the same vehicle as you with a
2" lift and I have just recently put a Turbo on it and now it flies
even towing the CT. I had my turbo fitted at 4wd systems
in
Adelaide.

Hi Matt,
How many kms on your clock before you turbo charge it? I am just concern that my engine is too old to have a turbo.

Sounds like a nice truck. I'd get a compression and leak down
test and it's all good , get a turbo\supercharger.

Hi
Approx 333,000km on the clock, they
check to motor b 4
putting on the turbo to see if it can be done, our vehicle
has never been thrashed, pampered all its life!!

Sounds like a poor equation to me iamgq2008 , unless your current GQ is stuffed you wont notice much difference.
If you want torque strength and brakes as
well buy the 4800 and outfit it with acessories with the money your save.

Mate, Dont do it! Keep the GQ. I sold my 93 GQ naturally aspirated 4 years ago and regretted it ever since. Superior drive line, reliable vehicle. So what if you have to replace the engine or have a rebuild. They are one of the last true trucks along with the 60 and 80 series. save your hard earned from someone who has wasted it! I now have a 60 series which is a great vehicle and a 100 series but I still miss the old girl. And iof Nissan were smart enough I would have bought a new 4.2 turbo diesel but they got rid of them.
