HI; I have a hyland hitch, that is very hard to get on and off.
just seems to be too tight, have had to belt it to get it on and lever with big driver to get off, A bit hesitant to adjust that screw and lock nut. anyone got any ideas

Are you using the correct Ball coupling??

The ones for the Hyland Hitch have a longer shank.

Cheers Kev

I find any ball type hard to get off, unless on level ground.

Hi Ken,
I have had a Hyland hitch for several years & at times have experienced your pain, but would never swap from it due to its easy to live with connection when all is working well. In my case it was worth disassembling the coupling locking mechanism & giving it all a good clean & regrease, I just used LM grease & re-assemble, not a problem since.
Note: A small amount of grease on the ball makes a big difference, & you just wipe it off after a dusty trip & place a bit more on.
Note: you do need to use the longer shank 50mm balls also.
Cheers Simon.

Hi Braggy,
Using the long shank tow ball, when the trailer is connected you should only have about 2mm of clearance between the bottom of the Hyland and the tow tongue,

Hi Braggy - Have a look at thread number 46366.
There are a number of reasons for this problem, and while the longer shaft is essential, there are also other reasons for the tightness. Read thread 46366.....Regards....Keith
