Hi all. Does anyone know if the 12v plugs in the rear of the older Engels are available from anyone such as Jaycar, Auto Elec, Camping Stores, etc, etc. Plug maybe same as the current models, I'm not sure. Maybe they are standard on another obscure product, just like the 240v plug is a kettle or PC plug.

Have googled my backside oiff and can only find them here as a complete lead. I am too much of a tight arse to pay $45. I only want the plug as show on the right here:

Thanks,

Wazza.

I bought a lead from BCF and it cost a lot less than that (can't remember exact cost, but certainly wasn't that expensive).

Cost us around $30 from BCF - it was the cig plug end that had gone on ours.

Motherhen,

Had similar problem with the cigarette plug end on our old engel (20+), and cut it off and put a hella plug on. Put a matching hella socket point in. Used to be a problem with the plug shaking loose on corros, and loosing power to the fridge for an hour or more until some one noticed it. The hella plug is a lot more positive and clips in. Can still be used with standard cigarette connections.

Hella plugs still vibrate out, genuine Engel socket is the most positive connection.

I use Hella Marine plugs they have a screw on collar with water proof gasket, once screwed on they are impossible to move. I then fit the special Engel fuse that is in the genuine plug to a fuse holder in line...Regards.

Yes, they are also a positive connection, but then it can't be plugged into anything else, at least with the Engel socket all you have to do is screw the tip back on.
