Denco Turbo

Hi all,

Wishing all EO members, David & Michelle and staff... and visitors all the very best for 2009,

Back to my original question :-)

Has anyone fitted, after market, a Denco Turbocharger to their vehicle?
Specifically, a diesel 80 series land cruiser.
Further information. 11/91 build. Roughly 248 000 km on the odometer.

TIA,
Cheers,
Wayne.

Hello Wayne

I had one fitted to my last Landcruiser 79 series with the larger mandrel bent exhaust and was more than happy with the increase in performance and quality of the product. No problems at all where experianced in the time I had it.

Mine was fitted at 140000 km . I would probably think twice before fitting one to a vehicle with 250000 km up. If your motor is in good condition and been regularly serviced I dont see it being a problem mechanically.

Cheers
Tony

Hi Wayne,

I fitted one to my 11/91 80 series dx with 350,000 on the speedo. Best thing I ever did.

I had the compression tested first and all was good. I would also go a 3"mandrel bent exhaust as I did works like a dream.

Love the power, economy not really different bit with the grunt who cares. My truck will smoke 35s on dry tar now.

Go for it you'll never look back.

Hi again Steve,

Should've asked before.... did you have your vehicle on a dyno before and after? If so, what were the figures?

Cheers,
Wayne.

Hi Wayne unfortunately a dyno was not available so no joy there, but I can tell you it only runs about 7.5 pound boost.

Hi Wayne,
Our 80 series is a 97 model, diesel and it also had a few km on the dial before we fitted our denco turbo. It made such a huge difference we are really kicking ourselves for not doing it much sooner. Has changed the feeling of driving from a truck to a car and even towing 6m boat can hold a hill climb at the speed limit on highways. Very impressed. Fitted an EGT gauge to watch temp doesn't overload.

Many thanks to everyone who replied to my question. I have to make sure of all my facts and figures before submitting my proposal to the Appropriations Committee LOL

Tony C, the motor seems to be in good shape and will be thoroughly checked out by my mechanic before proceeding.

Steve, I don't want to set the world, or my tyres, alight with the turbo..... just wanting an exxtra couple of KWs under the right foot :-)
Compression test is high on the check list.... Thanks.

David & Michelle, thanks, not towing anything larger than a camper ATM. During our recent road trip there were times on hills where the extra power would've been nice........ we don't like long hills!

Hope 2009 goes well for you both,

Cheers all,

Wayne & Sally.

I know some of the crew at Denco here in Wagga. Personally I hold them in very high regard and they have put a fair amount of development work and testing into their packages.

Thanks psproule,
I don't recall seeing any bad comments on the product and also thanks for the positive comments on the team.

Cheers,
Wayne.
