National Park passes in NSW and Qld

Permits for New South Wales

The following information is provided to assist you in gaining the right permits to lawfully travel through or access specified regional and outback areas.

Can anyone tell me whether NSW and/or Queensland has an annual pass system for national parks like that available in WA? The WA "Annual All" pass (issued by DEC) is great value, especially at the $50 concession rate for seniors etc.

Not sure about qld but NSW does.

NSW National Park Passes may be purchased online.

You have the option of one or two year passes and a number of variants.

You may purchase a pass for.

One nominated park only

All NSW Parks excluding Kosciusko National Park - Ski Fields

All NSW Parks including

Qld doesn't have an annual pass. You must book each park separately for the actual period you want to go there :-((

gday guys

when i bought my annual parks pass last year it cost me $45. this includes all national parks except Sydney & blue mountains.

they also will send me a reminder b4 it expires.just go to any national parks office,cheers.

NSW pass is cheaper if you are a senior, or if a pensioner you ring them in Sydney and with a bit of messing around get an all parks pass for free

Why is it a pity about Queensland? as far as I'm aware you don't need a permit to enter any National Park, but as the other states you must pay if you want to camp.

You don't need permits to go into NPs in QLD but you do pay fees to camp in a number of them

The only permits I am aware of is beach access permits which are required for Moreton, Bribie and Fraser Islands. You used to require a permit (which was free) to access some national park areas but that system was scrapped late last year I think it was. Permits are now only required for large or commercial groups.

Yep - had a look at the website and from what I can see vehicle permits are only needed for access to the "recreation areas" on those three islands. Presumably the recreation areas aren't just limited to the beaches.

States like WA and Tas which charge entry fees for day use of Nat Parks, are the ones that have annual permits. You still have to pay extra fees to camp in their parks, though. To best of my knowledge, are not fees just to enter Qld parks, so an annual pass would be redundant (not sure about day fees on Fraser Island - may be an exception to the above)

Yes - Chris indicated in an earlier response that the only Queensland national parks requiring vehicle permits are Fraser, Bribie and Moreton Islands.

Permits are also required in NSW. I don't know about SA, Victoria and NT as yet.
