Brad,
I am pretty sure that the minimum rim width for the 285x75 tyres is 7.5" to a maximum width of 9"
Cheers Kev

The tyre compliance plate on your vehicle should give you the information.

Bit big for 7 inch rims, I think 265 are the biggest for that size.
We have 245x75x16 on 7's

While that will fit ok, 7 inch max size is normally 265 however 1 brand of tyres was rated to allow 285/75/16 on 7in rims and that was Pro-comp Xterrains (as of end 2006)
Tyre life not affected for 7/8 inch rims - mainly depends on pressure anyway.

Brad
I have 16"x7" Sunraysia rims for my trailer which I have mounted the old 285/75 R16 off my Partrol on to so they are the same size. The guys who did it stressed that they would not do it for a vehicle but as I had the trailer there they agreed. Have not had to use them as a second spare for the car yet, but they advised I should treat it as an emergency spare only.
Cheers
Snowy
