First time post and keen to find details of people who have modified a new 70 series cab chassis into a Dual Cab. Saw a member - REV'S - had posted that he had done such a mod(can't contact him but am interested) anyone else with pictures / details?

Up to speed with the cut and extend method to do a dual cab but this other method I don't really understand cost, process etc.

I think it would be easier to get a 4 door Troopy and cut it instead of extending a Cab Chassis.

Member Mr Al and Lyn do conversions as sort of a hobby and may be able to provide more details for you. Check out their web site at www.darksideconversions.com.au for alternate contact details.

Plenty of ideas and photos here: Creative conversions.

Traytop has a longer wheelbase (200mm longer) than the troopie, so you might get away without extending the chassis.

An extended chassis certainly reduces offroad ability - rampover becomes an issue on dunes (I find this an issue on mine now) and the turning circle becomes huge.

Hi Slyder,
Just read your tread, I had my 70series cab chassis extended 12mths ago and haven't looked back I am very happy with the job. If your interested have a look at Specialised Vehicles.com.au.
The only problem I have encountered so far is the turning circle. Last Easter spent a week in the Vic High country with no problems on any of the tracks- Billy Goat,Cynthia spur and up to the Pinnacles. Next will be doing a desert crossing in the near future. So this will further test the vehicles capabilities.
If you would like to make further contact send me an email.
Cheers Allan & Mary Anne
