Gulf Track Feedback

We did the Gulf Track from Burketown to Borroloola June 6th and 7th 2008. Was an interesting trip although one I hope not to do again in a single axel on road caravan. The road was heavily corrogated for the most part, and of course the dreaded red dirt through everything. Borroloola to Daily Waters was a long boring drive with not much to see except the wonderful sunsets.

Andrea,

Thanks for the feed back.

We will be travelling the same road late august in our pajero and off road camper trailer.
Done a few corrugated roads over the years so ready for that. :o)
Wife always asks for a hovercraft about half way through :o0

Interesting you took a standard road caravan.
Friends coming with us are towing a standard van with a prado and we were thinking they couldn't come with us. Might be too rough and the creek crossings a problem.
Maybe not if we took our time over a few days. What do you think?

Did you make it into Kingfisher camp? What is the road like?

Hi there John,

We did it with no real problems at all, the creek crossing are great and not a problem we were doing about 50ks through there. The road was at its worst the QLD side, and just for an added laugh we got breathalized at Domadgee, the coppers were lovely about it. We are now in Adelaide had to leave the trip early as we were planning on doing the Kimberly, but my Father in law has been diagnosed with agressive Liver Cancer and we were needed here.

Have a great Trip!!

Thanks,

Sorry to hear about your father-in-law.
Always makes it hard deciding to cut it short or not.
Talking on the phone is not the same as being there.
My father is getting a bit old and my mother died recently, but she had heart problems for a few years. We would hear she was in hospital and get there as soon as we could, and she would make a fuss and say you should have kept going. Parents, almost as bad as teenagers. :o)
But you know in your heart you did the right thing. Each year was a bonus, and towards the end, every month a bonus.
