Well, for those wondering, he is off again, in the Outback, enjoying the wonders that can be found in this amazing country.

He will be calling in a small report every couple of days and I promised to list his scratchy sat phone transmissions for you all...

First trip - Canning Stock Route.

Leaving Uluru, he reported excellent weather, if a little cool at night.

Through to Willuna, the cheapest fuel he found was $1.89 per litre at Leonora.

Weather at Laverton - 24 degrees (lucky devil!).

Tonight he reported arriving safely at Well 12, with road conditions listed at 'normal' and coming across two other convoys along the way.

That's the report for now.

Belinda (the dear wife) :-)

Hi Belinda

Good to hear Wayne is out there and going safely. Why haven't you accompanied him on this trip? and Is he planning to drive the length of the CSR?

Looking forward to hearing further reports.

Thanks
Jinki

Hi Jinki,

Yes, good question? What am I doing stuck here in Sydney, working long hours through the dread of winter?? Someone has to pay the mortgage I suppose...

The trip is 26 days with 20 of those on the Canning itself, so, yes, I believe it is the entire Canning he will be travelling.

His reports have been sketchy so far but I will continue to post as they come in, in case they are of interest (or use) to any other travellers.

Take Care

Belinda

Yes, that would probably have been him - he left Sydney on the 29th with a stop-over in Orange so the timing sounds about right.

Yeah - the only time I've managed to talk to him (despite seeing him on the road a number of times) was by knocking on his hotel door at Marla ;-)

Belinda,

He's a nasty bugger is'nt he. We're all stuck at home working while he's off gallivanting about the bush, so he gets you to do his dirty work teasing us hahahahahaha

Hi Belinda

Did he get the radio fixed up OK..
I tried to talk to him a couple of weeks ago- but it sounded all 'garbled' ..I know he had it seen to at Dubbo, but still didn't sound right.
When ya speaking with him- please send my regards
Cheers

So, last night I receive another scratchy Sat phone call from Wayne.

They have RAIN!

The convoy pulled into Well 12 on Thursday night. At mignight he said it started to rain and it didn't stop all Friday...

So they are still at Well 12 awaiting a break in the weather and considering their options, the tracks being too wet to travel at the moment...
