I'm sure that the revvin kevin mob won't let the RFDS make a media event out of lack of Govt funds. Twill be quietly fixed...but a score for the Opposition for the moment eh ?

They'll only be for one term, and that'll be enough to stuff the country up and put it back 12 years,

Who was the source of the article? What was the previous governments record with regard to recurrent expenditure as opposed to one-off pre-election sweeteners (carers etc)? Far too early to judge this government IMHO. I dont seem to recall as much criticism of the Howard government in its first 6 MONTHS. Lets give them one full term first eh?....cheers ...silverback

Hi all,
I find it sad and embarrassing that a wonderful institution such as the RFSD is constantly buffeted by political persuasions. It should be a mandatory fully budgeted service.
My thoughts anyway........

Nev,
Well said. I agree 100%. The RFDS is NOT a luxury. It is an absolutely essential service.

Agree Totally.
I also find it sad that funding and donations is wasted on similiar organisations - when it all could be going to RFDS.
Lots of organisations means lots of mngt costs and wages soaking up the money instead of of planes / choppers in the air.
Not bagging the other
services - just the situation.

SAme thing happened in WA.
No real increase in funding from WA Labor Govt, not even enough to cover the rise in fuel price.
When asked about that issue, the State Minister for Health Jim McGinty responded that the Govt would not respond to "Pressure Groups" with their own political agenda.
What a wanker..... We in WA knew he was a Richard Cranium, now he has proved it.
The sooner we get rid of the incompetents in power in WA the better.
Shame that there is no plausible opposition though.
Disco.

Quote
"The previous government announced $550,000 in additional funding for the RFDS in the lead-up to last year's election to help it expand its Dubbo base."
Yes they announced it but it did not guarantee it was going to get done if the were reelected.
Talk is cheap at election time......but then again most people would be stupid enough to believe the government if they said "free rego and fuel for all motorists".
The RFDS and the VKS 737 Network is something we should all support...but then again a sticking plaster and 20 lts of water will get you out of everything...so some believe.

Hi All
RFDS should be the number "ONE" charity of all outback travelers
It's my number "ONE" charity and proud of it, nothing else like it in the world, never had to use there
services and hope I never do !!
You only have to read about the lucky ones they have helped to see what a great job they do.
