Diesel Warriors,

I have a 91 Toyota Hilux with a 2.4D engine with 150K/Km. In the past few months, my engine bellows large amounts of black smoke out of the exhaust under acceleration. I know diesel engines let out black smoke under acceleration, but this black cloud isn't normal. While the engine is idling, black smoke is still coming out of the exhaust, but not as bad. I live in Japan and the language barrier is a problem to explain with mechanics. Are there any suggestions.

Thanks for responding, I will have the injectors cleaned and see how that does the trick. Is it possible that I got some bad gas and caused the injectors to go sour?

150,000klms if they havent been done, then they are due for it anyway.

1 bad load of fuel, I would hesitate to think that would cause the problem. but anything is possible these days.

I would suggest first replace the fuel and air filters and put a good dose of fuel conditioner, and may be some one has turned the fuel up on the pump. Col
