I have to say I am a lot happier towing the 2 t van with the Nissan. After comming into
Kalbarri doing 60 klms struggling into the headwind we got back on the highway heading north up some steeper hills doing 80 klms under 3000 revs into the wind. Very impressive. But I did learn how to drive her better as it is a new vehicle for me. I found the OVERDRIVE button on the shift and also the settings for POWER. We had it set on ALL TERRAIN. Using those combinations on the hills, including cruise control the Nissan powered up with more to go. WE also had the AIR CON switched off.
To fine tune the Nissan I would probably get her modified by the Diesel mechanic so if anyone knows of a good one in the Pilbra, be good to know. We are also returning better fuel than before, 500 klms to a tank. Maybe the motor is wearing in?
She did 30 klms on the soft sand today at
Denham and she pulled herself along no worries. My 3 year old boy calls her the monster truck and wants to go 4wdriving all the time.
Cheers

nb.
Denham is a great
fishing spot for the kids. My 2 year old caught her first flat head and Lockie caught his first whiting. and I caught a small shark!

G'Day mustang.sal
No worries I was busy fishing but if you felt that it pulled
well heading out the north way from
Kalbarri it is doing all right as that is the worst uphill section

Hi Mustang.
Is that 500k to a 90l tank, or the full 125l?
I've been keeping an eye on your thread as I've also got an 07 Patrol 3.0l TD auto. whose economy to date has been the only questionmark in an otherwise very satisfactory package. It has ranged from very best of low 12s to the low 15s, more towards the latter, .Mind you , my comparison is my old Troop Carrier which always did just on 12l per 100k commuting and worst (cruising at 100k with roof rack) of 14.2. It really didn't seem to matter much to that motor what load was on it, it gave very similar (read slow) performance.
All my figures are for a solo vehicle, but Im looking at doing an extended trip and trying to gather every bit of information I can on possible fuel economy.
Cheers.
