G'day, in Post 5963 it was stated "The GU owners manual offers several other size options. VicRoads regs say it's OK to fit 15mm larger/smaller OD than the largest offered by the manufacturer for the model/series. The largest OD offered by Nissan in the owners manual is 245/85x16. This size is about 10mm smaller than 285/75/16, therefore OK. They also offer 7.50x16 in the owners manual, which are same OD as 265/75x16".
Does any one have a copy of the Nissan Owners manual that states the above? (My manual states the largest tyre size as 265/75/16 on the 16x8jj rim). Thanks in advance.

Hi
John,
Regardless of what it say in the manual, you will have to follow the guideline that are set out on the tyre placard on the vehicle, which is like a compliance plate , usaully around the door pillar.
This is what the authorities use for enforcement.

Hi Shane the authorities do use that as you say , however they are wrong and have lost at least in Victoria.
However you have to be
well armed with the facts to win in practise when pulled over on the side of the road.

My Manual specifically states that - 2002 gu , hence I have a arguement to use the 255/85/16 which is my preffered bush tyre size

Ok, from the poof
That is series 1 gu owners manual. That is a scan from
mine!
They deleted the 33" tyre from the mid east models Series 2 onwards. only series one handbook has it
Under the new national laws it makes 35s legal on a gu without an engineering certificate.
