Hi all,
We're heading off round oz in a couple of months and will be working on and off as we go.
We'll be heading off from
Perth and probably go over east first and slowly work our way around as we go. We're taking a camper trailer and have 4wd.
Just looking for any advice, tips and any pitfalls to look out for ie. is there much trouble getting work etc we're both in our 40's. Not sure how long we'll be going for and any info would be much appreciated.
Cheers from WA

You won't find any problems with work providing you are prepared to do anything that comes up.
We, a retired Office staff and IT manager, set off and found that work was available everywhere. We ended up minding a Cattle Station for about 6 months during the wet season. Could have had any number of jobs around the top end.
Anything from working at the mines to managing a woolies fuel stop.

hey
The missus and I have just sold the house, got a van and we are about to do the same.
I am in the mining industry and will probably try to get work in some mines or quarries as we go, though i will have a go at any sort of work.
Everyone reckon's we are mad for selling up but I reckon there's way to much to look at and experience, we'll worry about a house down the track and just relax for a few years and enjoy ourself for a change eh.
CAN'T WAIT
Cheers
Robert

Hi Robert,
Cheers for that. The house thing is a bit of a worry, my partner was thinking of selling as
well, but everyone said no you'll regret it, so now we're thinking of renting it, but it would be nice not to have to worry about what's going on with it and I guess if need be selling is an option. If anyone has done the same with renting their house any
feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Yeah but definitely agree with you, there's way to much too see and experience.
Both of us are happy to do any kind of work.
Can't wait either, what an experience it will be!
Cheers

Hi,
Sounds great. My wife & I did 5 years around oz starting in 2000. If you don't mind what you do, there are opportunities in Northern W.A & Alice (during winter) & the east coast during summer.
A suggestion would be to head north W.A first, stop into
Coral Bay (we managed Bayview Tourist Park for 2 years) & if things haven't changed they are always looking for staff during winter.
Another idea is to look into an 'on-line' business before you go - this is what we are having success with - www.theincomestream.com is one that we are working at. We are also traveling starting mid June.

Good luck & happy travels

Hi Jeanette,
Neither my wife or myself had any real prior internet experience and spent 2 weeks learning the ropes (with a computer that died during that time also) before launching the business. For the last month or so, now that we understand how to drive 'traffic' to the website, the system just does what it does. People like you and I make their own decision on whether it suits them or not. All you need to do is drive traffic to the sites.
Another site to look at is www.AnIncomeStream same opportunity using a different system (semi automated - a bit more hands on)
If you find anything of interest or need more info, feel free to email me:- jason@thewellnessvision.com
Cheers

Hi "Louie" ,
I have worked in Admin for quite a few years, have also done cleaning, coffee
shop, presently working 2 jobs, Admin by day, and couple of nights a week doing cooking and kitchenhand. Worked in a pub for a few months many years ago. My partner is a diesel mechanic, and can pretty much do anything with his hands, very clever man. We're not afraid of hard work either, just getting a little slower at it.

You shouldn't have much trouble getting work in
Adelaide, particularly if you go to the
Adelaide Hills area in the local touristy businesses. As for the Diesel Mechanic,
well!!! Might have something for a person with some mechanical aptitude. We have 2 German backpackers working for us at the moment. They leave in about 2 weeks. Pity cause he's a great welder and she's good at process work. When in
Adelaide send me a member message if you're interested. I'll see what we have then.
Cheers
Louie

Thanks for that Louie.
Hopefully we'll be heading off in less that 2 months and definitely keep you in mind.
