Hi,
What are people's thoughts on this episode of Top Gear? For real or fantasy?
Chris

Who cares if it was faked or if it was real, I enjoyed it, but the wrong team won.

Well - they did do it, but it is likely beyond many of our means to realise, so a fantasy, or fantastic if you like.
See
Arctic Trucks site and [url=
http://www.invinciblehilux.co.uk/]Invinvible Hilux site [their name!][/url]for a revealing insight into how they did it - notably with the largely unseen logistical support of the Arctic Challenge event.
Good on them all for having the balls to make-it-happen.
Take care,
Tim

Amazed at how Hilux could turn into a bulldozer and not sustain frontal damage.
Parts were obviously posed as in one shot they were driving along with tyre tracks extending in front of them.
Perhaps they had "passed this way before'.

There were at least 3 vehicles, so you would expect tracks!

There are a few 'armchair experts' here that think they could have prepared the vehicles better ...... LMAO!

Very entertaining the way it was presented but it's all the bits behind the scenes you didn't see that made much of it a fantasy. They gave the impression they were pretty much out there on their own when there was a fleet of back up vehicles, skidoo's & planes flying fuel in & scouting the route ahead. The presenters of course were flown out from the Pole while some more footage was shot on the return trip without them. The order of the trek was out of sequence too with the crashed plane before reaching the Pole when it was really after. Scenes of the cars being jumped at speed were no doubt taken out the back of the town and not hundreds of KM's from assistance.
They had absolutely no idea how to drive in deep snow paying little attention to the intructors training prior in fact they were acting like big kids not paying respect to such a dangerous remote area.
Still it would be nice to give an Artic truck a try one day.
Cheers Craig.............

'....they had absolutely no idea how to drive ...'
Gee I would have thought that as it was someone elses vehicle, their driving was about par for the course! Amazing how they managed such a trip and there was absolutely no foul weather (that we saw). For all we know thay may
well have just driven around in circles anywhere in the Arctic region. Was it entertaing - yeah only 'cos there was nothing else on at the time.

I liked it. Good entertainment beats bloody Discovery channel, plus there was no American presenters.
To watch it and not realise that there was more to it is the fantasy part.
That Jeremy Clarkson bloke cracks me up.
Next weeks episode will be interesting as
well.

Would have loved to see it, but it was on in DAYLIGHT. I always mean to come inside and see interesting stuff at that time, but...

Hope they repeat it at a better time... maybe winter.

I was a bit gobsmacked, they were scared witless driving on that Fiord and loved the whole show.
Hammond did all that only 6-7 months after his accident and that IS remarkable
