I am in the process of buying a Toyota Bushcamper (a Landcruiser Troopcarrier with a high top, converted into a campervan).

One that I am looking at is in Melbourne.

I'd like to get it checked over mechanically by a specialised diesel/4WD mechanic, rather than just by the NRMA/RACV.

I would like a specialised 4WD/diesel mechanic to do the check, as I assume they would know more about 4WD's, what problems to look out for, and they can do a compression test on the engine.

Any recommendations for trustworthy 4WD/diesel mechanics that might have a lot of experience with 75-series style Landcruisers to do this sort of pre-purchase mechanical check?

Thanks,
Simon

4WDTV have had a story on pre-purchase checks of 4WD recently. The story was done at ARB in Dandenong from memory.

The mechanic was extremelly thorough and knew exactly what and where to look for clues of bodgy repairs, accident damage and poor maintenance.

Give ARB a call.

Hi Simon, I have a Bush Camper and got a pre-purchase check plus some serviceing done in Coburg in Melbourne. If this is anywhere near your purchase area and you want more details drop me an email nzrees@yahoo.com

I can highly reccommend Aaron at ATOC motors. He's in Belgrave South and specialises in deisels and 4x4's. He's been mentioned in quite a few threads in this forum. Ph. 9754 2751. Run Atoc Auto's thru google and you'll find a fair bit about him. Very good and very knowledgable in the areas you're looking for.

Cheers. Mick
